The Hay Festival Winter Weekend is celebrating its 25th anniversary from 28 November to 1 December 2024 in the charming town of Hay-on-Wye. Known as the “Town of Books,” Hay-on-Wye is nestled in the stunning Bannau Brycheiniog National Park, making it the perfect setting for a festive gathering of readers, writers, and creatives. This year’s Winter Weekend promises to be extra special, offering a diverse program of over 60 events, featuring more than 70 acclaimed artists.

Literary Highlights and Headlining Guests

This year’s Winter Weekend offers something for every type of book lover. Ali Smith, celebrated novelist, will present her latest work, Gliff, while Paula Hawkins, author of The Girl on the Train, will share her new novel The Blue Hour. These literary icons are joined by a host of other talents, including poet Theresa Lola, who will present her new collection Ceremony for the Nameless, and actor Rupert Everett, who will be debuting his first collection of stories The American No.

Non-fiction lovers will enjoy talks from notable figures such as statistician David Spiegelhalter, exploring the art of uncertainty, and Carol Vorderman, who will discuss her campaign to address Britain’s current challenges. For a global perspective, former Australian Prime Minister Julia Gillard and foreign policy specialist Chloe Dalton will bring their insights to the stage.
