Welcome to The Red Lion Inn, Penderyn; a family run, traditional 12th century drover’s inn perched high on a hill with beautiful views over the village of Penderyn and Brecon Beacons National Park.

Flagstone floors, log fires, traditional real ales and ciders gravity fed straight from the casks are accompanied by fabulous food lovingly created by our chefs from locally sourced ingredients to form a menu which changes regularly to reflect the very best of the season’s finest Welsh produce.

Wales is home to some amazing produce & artisan producers & we love seeking out the best of these to source the ingredients for our seasonal menus. Our team of chefs, led by head chef Adam Penfold, supported by senior sous chef Leon Jones, prepare a modern, varied menu which changes regularly to capitalise on the best the seasons have to offer. On Sundays we offer a traditional slow roasted lunch or fresh fish option, accompanied by a range of starters and desserts

We’re proud to have always stocked a wide range of traditional Real Ales and craft Ciders and have been serving them straight from the cask since we bought the pub in 1978, unfortunately we can’t guarantee the prices are still the same as back then!

Some of our Ales and Ciders are permanent residents and others come and go with the seasons. Check our chalkboard for the latest list

Do I Need To Book?

Due to our limited size we do recommend making a reservation. You can ‘Book Online’ for indoor dining tables for up to a maximum of 6 people. You can also contact us to book for larger groups, bar or outside tables. Please advise of any special requirements such as wheelchair access or dietary requirements when making your reservation.

Are Children Welcome?

Children over the age of 6 are very welcome with those under the age of 6 very welcome until 6pm. As the pub is quite small, for their safety, we ask that they are supervised at all times. PLEASE NOTE: Due to space limitations regrettably we are unable to cater for high chairs, prams, pushchairs or baby changing.

Can You Accommodate Large Groups?

Due to limited space the maximum reservation we accept is for 10 people on one table. We cannot split larger groups over multiple tables. You can ‘Book Online’ for indoor dining tables or contact us to book bar or outside tables.

Are Dogs Welcome?

Dogs are not allowed in the restaurant but sociable furry friends are very welcome in the bar and lounge areas…..…they can even bring well behaved owners
