Down to the sea

The Brecon Beacons National Park Authority in partnership with the Canal and River Trust, has launched an exciting new series of short animated videos that reveal the historic story of the Monmouthshire and Brecon Canal that will encourage people to visit historic landmarks.

The animations focus on four tram roads, Hay tramroad, Brinore tramroad, Llam-March tramroad & Hill’s tramroad.

Each animation artistically demonstrate the reasons why the canal was originally built and how visitors and locals alike can watch the animations and visit the attractions highlighted.

Why not visit attractions such as the lime kilns at Watton wharf in Brecon, or a walk up the Brinore Tramroad in Talybont –on-Usk.

A Visit to Blaenavon ironworks and the Blaenavon World Heritage Centre is a must do and the lovely walk to see the Clydach ironworks and Llanelly Quarry are not to be missed.

The walking routes are suitable for families and will allow children to positively engage with the industrial past.
